I have been making much progress on the Doctor quilt in the past week. All of the denim squares are finished. After practicing and starting the spiral design on the other squares, I decided to rethink it. I am just not good enough yet and my machine cannot handle all of that bulk for that design. It required a lot of movement and the quilt got it it's own way. I like the linear choice I have made instead, but I am disappointed that I couldn't use my original idea.
The design I chose is from 501 Quilting Motifs from The Patchwork Place. It has a lot of good designs in it and directions on continuous line quilting. A very handy book to have for inspiration.
If I keep up this pace I could have this one finished in a week! Cross your finger.
I made the most progress today while my friend kept me company. I get so much more done in a social setting than I do alone. Although I avoid cutting fabric in a social setting - that I have done in the past with disastrous results. But I far more enjoy piecing with friends. What do you think?
